Alright, I'm going to put all my complaints about my journey home yesterday on the LJ. This is going to be reserved for the reason I dont mind any of them....
I had fallen asleep without realizing it halfway to phoenix. It had long been dark, and the sunset was too far gone to dream of chasing at this point. I was exhausted, and should have been beyond the point of waking, but for some reason I started as though someone had shaken me.
I gazed out the window.
The wing of the aircraft divided the front of my view into two segments. The view behind the wing was obstructed by a cloud. It had an inky darkness of such a consuming nature that it could be nothing else. Above the wing, the stars blazed in the night sky with an audacity normally obscured to my vision by city lights. Below the wing, I could see the towns and cities proclaiming their own constellations across the darkened earth. The cloud suddenly lit up with lights of its own- a storm! and the lightening smoldered within it, alight with such colors as are never seen from below the clouds, electric purples, vivid scarlets, and all crawling vengefully over and over the surface of the cloud. The stars shining above, the cities twinkling below, and the lightning blazing between the two, and only one person in the whole plane aware of the incredibly beauty of existence, only one person in the whole world who will remember that moment forever...
